 ys for people to earn them.\n\n   5n4ck3y is a retro snack vending machine
  that we’ve rebuilt into a\n   network-connected CTF badge dispenser. Be
 hind the woodgrain and\n   glowing buttons is a hardware hacking project t
 hat connects a\n   web-hosted CTF platform to a physical machine capable o
 f vending\n   badges to successful participants. Solve enough challenges a
 nd\n   you’ll earn a dispense code. Enter the code into 5n4ck3y and the\
 n   machine will reward you with a badge—assuming it’s in a good mood.
 \n\n   The challenges span a wide range of disciplines including hardware\
 n   hacking\, reverse engineering\, OSINT\, RF\, network security\, phreak
 ing\,\n   and cryptography. Participants often learn something new at a DE
 F CON\n   village\, meet other hackers along the way\, and then return to 
 apply\n   those skills to the challenges.\n\n   Once you earn a badge\, th
 e adventure isn’t over. Our badges are\n   built to be explored\, modifi
 ed\, and hacked long after they leave the\n   machine.\n\n   5n4ck3y exist
 s for one reason: to reward curiosity. Solve the puzzles\,\n   learn somet
 hing new\, and the machine might decide you deserve a badge.\n\n   Partici
 pant Prerequisites\n\n   Curiosity\, persistence\, access to a computer\, 
 and the willingness to\n   RT.FM.\n\n   Our challenges are intentionally m
 ultidisciplinary and are designed to\n   encourage exploration and collabo
 ration. Participants will likely need\n   to investigate hardware\, softwa
 re\, networking\, and other security\n   topics. Many challenges are easie
 r when working with others\, so\n   don’t be afraid to talk to people ne
 arby or compare notes with\n   fellow hackers.\n\n   While we won’t spoi
 l what tools are needed this year\, participants\n   in past 5n4ck3y chall
 enges have used a wide range of equipment\n   including laptops\, reverse 
 engineering tools\, SDR\, UART adapters\,\n   hardware debuggers\, solderi
 ng tools\, and the occasional piece of\n   improvised equipment.\n\n   The
  good news is that DEF CON is one of the best places in the world\n   to f
 ind tools\, knowledge\, and people willing to help. If you don’t\n   hav
 e something you need\, chances are someone nearby does—or you can\n   fi
 nd it in a village\, vendor area\, or by politely asking the hacker\n   si
 tting next to you.\n\n   5n4ck3y strongly encourages teamwork\, creative t
