 ng Village (MHV) for an\n   immersive real-world maritime hacking experien
 ce that is ONLY\n   available at DEFCON! Learn what it takes to hack on th
 e high seas\, and\n   discover how the technologies used across global mar
 itime trade and\n   national security can be attacked and defended with co
 mmon tools and\n   tradecraft. This will be a weekend full of hands-on lea
 rning\,\n   training\, and education about hacking the depths of maritime 
 OT and IT\n   systems\, guided by the elite maritime cybersecurity communi
 ty.\n\n   Attendees can expect to learn the tools of the trade for hacking
 \n   maritime in-vehicle networks\, maritime telecommunications systems\n 
   (ship-side and shore-side)\, maritime autonomy systems\, and shore-side\
 n   operational and networking technologies for port operations and cargo\
 n   management. MHV will provide a variety of real maritime hardware\n   (
 autonomous vehicles\, buoys\, crane control systems\, and more) and\n   so
 ftware (from maritime OEMs and system integrators used in ship-side\n   an
 d shore-side operations)\, integrated in a never-before-seen maritime\n   
 capture-the-flag contest and open hacking competition. We will\n   challen
 ge attendees to apply their skills in embedded communications\,\n   wirele
 ss networks\, radio communications\, and software/binary reverse\n   engin
 eering to break into these systems and demonstrate their teams’\n   abil
 ity to upskill in modern maritime cyber warfare and defense.\n\n   Ideally
 \, participants will be familiar with using a terminal\, the\n   screen ut
 ility\, basic /dev/tty devices\, and wireshark. Beyond this\,\n   there ar
 e no hard prerequisites\, but participating individuals and\n   teams are 
 encouraged to bring experience in the following areas to\n   accelerate su
 ccessful engagement in our more advanced hacking\n   challenges:\n\n     *
  CAN-based protocols\, ex. CAN bus\, J1939\, NMEA2000. Familiarity\n      
  using can-utils\n\n     * Serial protocols\, ex. Modbus (RS485 and tcp)\,
  NMEA0183 (RS422)\,\n       and RS232\n\n     * SDR/software defined radio
  - basic usage of gnuradio with HackRF\n       or more advanced radio\n\n 
     * Firmware/binary analysis and reverse engineering\n\n     * Attacking
  WiFi (802.11) networks\n\n     * Understanding of common radio frequency 
 modulation schemes\n\n     * Familiarity with LoRA and 802-based mesh netw
