  workshops and hands on\n   interaction\, participants exchange practical 
 lessons on building\,\n   sustaining\, and evolving local hacker communiti
 es.\n\n   The space also serves as a social anchor. A relaxed place to rec
 onnect\n   with old friends\, meet new ones\, and participate in light int
 eractive\n   activities that reflect the collaborative nature of hacking c
 ulture.\n\n   DEF CON has always been the island of misfit toys we all ret
