 e.\n   KrakenSDR changed that. For $749\, you get a five-channel coherent\
 n   software-defined radio that — paired with a custom pentagonal\n   an
 tenna array and open-source signal processing software on a\n   Raspberry 
 Pi — performs real-time passive direction of arrival\n   estimation acro
 ss 24 MHz to 1766 MHz.\n\n   This talk is a practitioner's account of buil
 ding and deploying this\n   system across five field runs in Portland\, OR
 . We cover the physics of\n   coherent direction finding and why a single 
 RTL-SDR can't do it\, the\n   hardware build and critical configuration de
 tails (including the Pi\n   EEPROM settings that prevent the system from b
 rowning out in the\n   field)\, and the full signal processing pipeline fr
 om IQ streams to\n   triangulated fix. We present results from FM broadcas
 t targets used as\n   calibration ground truth\, and from a 440 MHz amateu
 r repeater in a\n   dense urban environment where multipath degraded but d
 id not defeat\n   the system.\n\n   The barrier to passive RF geolocation 
 is no longer cost. It is\n   knowledge. This talk lowers that barrier and 
 releases the field data\,\n   post-processing scripts\, and deployment che
