 l 1 Hall 3 1003 (Demo Labs Track 3) - [1]Map\n\n Description:\n\n Most
security tools assume Unix or Windows models built around\n processes\,
shells\, and network services. On mainframe operating\n systems\, autho
rity is determined through control-plane behavior: job\n submission (JCL
 /JES)\, dataset access\, library resolution\, and\n transaction context.
These relationships are difficult to observe and\n are systematically m
isunderstood by modern security teams\; creating\n blind spots that trad
itional tooling cannot see.\n\n This Demo Lab shows a live MVS 3.8j envi
 ronment running under Hercules\n with a browser-based TN3270 interface.
Operational artifacts including\n submitted jobs\, spool output\, and ex
ecution context are captured and\n mapped into a graph that reveals hidd
en trust relationships and\n indirect execution paths.\n\n The demonst
ration walks a realistic privilege path: TSO user → JCL\n submission
STEPLIB hijack → APF library execution — showing\n how inherited
authority creates system-level exposure without\n exploiting a single vu
lnerability. No shellcode. No memory corruption.\n Just the system worki
ng exactly as designed.\n\n The platform includes 13 automated walkthrou
 ghs across 6 control\n planes (TSO\, JES\, RACF\, CICS\, VTAM\, PR/SM)\,
  an offline LLM for\n real-time screen interpretation\, and a findings e
ngine that maps\n results to a repeatable assessment framework.\n\n Sp
eakerBio: Adam "w00tock" Toscher\n\n Adam Toscher is a New York–based
security engineer and red team\n operator with over two decades of expe
rience in offensive security\,\n adversary simulation\, and automation.
Born in New York City and raised\n upstate\, Adam began his career as an
“IT vagabond\,” starting as a\n freshman IBM intern porting Linux a
pplications to mainframe systems.\n That early mainframe work grounded h
im in large-scale computing\,\n operating systems\, and complex enterpri
se environments before he\n transitioned into offensive security.\n\n
He later held senior security roles at Adobe\, Optiv\, Accenture\, IBM\n
X-Force\, and NYC Cyber Command\, focusing on realistic adversary\n emu
 lation\, red-team operations\, and practical automation.\n\n Most recent
ly\, Adam has worked with Cobalt Labs\, supporting advanced\n red-teamin
g and offensive security engagements for private-sector\n organizations.
Prior to that\, he led red-team and adversary simulation\n work support
ing critical public infrastructure with NYC Cyber Command\n and the FDNY
.\n\n His work centers on penetration testing\, red teaming\, adversary\
 n emulation\, and security tooling across private-sector and government\
n environments. Outside of security\, Adam values balance and lifelong\n
    learning\, and is an avid reader\, runner\, swimmer\, and gamer.\n\n
