t!\n Tags: DEF CON Workshop | DEF CON Workshops\n When: Saturday\, Aug

n\n Description:\n\n In the Information Security news space\, we often
hear about the cool\n malware and tools nation states and APTs develop.
While there are many\n tools out there that "do the thing"\, have you e
ver wonder how it "does\n the thing"? Instead of just using tools and sc
ripts that sound cool\,\n why not make them?\n\n Using the Rust progra
 mming language\, you'll be taken step-by-step into\n building your own W
indows malware! We'll break down the process and\n work our way into mor
 e complex tasks. From a simple\, no-imports binary\n we'll slowly work i
nto loading and executing Windows API functions\n without ever calling "
LoadLibrary" or "GetProcAddress" while not\n touching a single Rust "std
::*" function or importing any extra\n crates!\n\n You'll be introduce
d into Windows concepts like the Process\n Environment Block (PEB)\, the
Thread Environment Block (TEB) and how we\n can use them to our advanta
ge! At the end of this workshop\, you'll be\n able to build binaries wit
hout any imports while doing fun tricks like\n shellcode injection!\n\n
   Some of the topics we'll touch on are:\n\n * Assembly!\n\n * Rus
 t Allocators\n\n * Windows Structs\n\n * API Function Calls\n\n
   * Binary File Inspection\n\n   Speakers:iDigitalFlame\,Daniel Bravo\n\n
SpeakerBio: iDigitalFlame\n\n iDigitalFlame is an experienced securit
y researcher that uses his\n programming skills to expand his abilities
and provide teams with the\n tools needed to complete any engagement. Ou
tside of work\, his passion\n for open source and knowledge sharing has
led to the creation of many\n unique tools and resources. iDigitalFlame
also uses his skills to help\n power many CTFs\, including the ProsVJoes
CTF at BSidesLV\, where he\n leads the Red Team and provides the platfo
rm for Red operations.\n iDigitalFlame has spoken before at BSidesDE and
BSidesLV about cool\n things learnt in his research like AV evasion or
releases open source\n software like ThunderStorm\, a custom C2 platform
used in many CTFs he\n operates in.\n\n SpeakerBio: Daniel Bravo\n\n
    Daniel is a self-taught programmer who later earned a B.S. in Computer\
n Science from the University of Maryland. He likes to understand how\n
software works by decompiling binaries and reverse engineering APIs\,\n
whether they were meant to be understood or not. Daniel also enjoys\n
working on geospatial projects and web scraping tools\, particularly\n e
xtracting and reconstructing data from mobile platforms. His other\n int
erests also include compiler theory\, automated reasoning\, and\n verifi
 cation-aware languages.\n\n Links:\n Registration (July 14\, 2026\
