 n   As IoT devices continue to integrate cellular technologies for\n   com
 munication\, the potential risk for adversaries to weaponize the\n   hardw
 are’s trust relationship and gain access to critical backend\n   infrast
 ructure grows exponentially. During this talk\, we will present\n   our re
 search focused on how built-in cellular technology in IoT\n   devices can 
 be leveraged to gain access to and execute attacks against\n   cloud servi
 ces and backend private network environments. We will cover\n   methods to
  modify IoT devices to take control over the installed\n   cellular module
 s\, allowing for injecting communications and\n   establishing Man-in-the-
 Middle (MitM) traffic between the Micro\n   Controller Units (MCU) and the
  cellular modules. We will demonstrate\n   how control of onboard cellular
  communications could be used to launch\n   attacks against the backend cl
 oud infrastructure and network systems\n   outside of the IoT device's int
 ended purpose. During this\n   presentation\, we will demo and release pro
 of-of-concept code to\n   control the onboard cellular modules to accompli
 sh these goals. We\n   will also provide actionable defense strategies\, i
 ncluding discussions\n   around hardware design recommendations\, interfac
 e access control\n   settings\, and methods for applying targeted mitigati
 on techniques and\n   processes so organizations can strengthen IoT trust 
 boundaries and\n   protect against this evolving class of cellular-based t
