DESCRIPTION: 'Title: AIRGAP BREACHED: Monitoring the Ancestral Payload Le
aking from\n the Poles\n Tags: Biohacking Village | Creator Talk/Panel
 \n When: Saturday\, Aug 8\, 15:00 - 15:30 PDT\n Where: LVCCW Level 1 H
 all 3 1104 (Creator Stage 4) - [1]Map\n\n Description:\n\n A frugal\,
eDNA sniffing system to audit atmospheric biodata-leaks in\n the era of
Climate change.\n\n Current healthcare cybersecurity focuses on device a
ccess\, ignoring\n the fundamental vulnerability: the environmental air
gap is closing.\n Massive cryospheric melting is releasing a backlog of
ancestral\n genetic data (eDNA) into the biosphere\, creating an unmonit
ored 'input\n stream' of allergens and pathogens. This talk presents a r
esilient\,\n open-source eDNA monitoring system designed to audit these
atmospheric\n 'data leaks' in real-time. By utilizing high-fidelity open
-source and\n decentralized brewed polymerases and consumer electronics\
, we provide\n a solution for biological sovereignty that remains operat
ional even\n when traditional digital infrastructure fails.\n\n Here\,
we will present how to build global atmospheric monitoring\n networks f
or under $500 USD to intercept "paleo-organisms"—dormant\n bacteria an
 d viruses released by melting poles—using shotgun\n metagenomics\, 3D-
printed parts\, and microcontrollers. Essentially\, he\n catches genetic
ghosts in the air before they trigger the next global\n health crisis.
This projects aims to tackle a sci-fi level threat:\n Facing the looming
ecological danger of "polar amplification\," David\n is developing open
-source hardware together with Biohackers at\n BioOlympia (Olympia Washi
ngton)\, to capture and sequence ancient or\n threatening environmental
DNA (eDNA). His atmospheric biosensors\n combine high-precision 3D print
ing\, fluid dynamics\, and embedded\n systems to track clouds of paleo-b
iomass and frozen microorganisms\n waking up from the ice or perturbed e
cosystems. Along with studies in\n environmental science\, biology\, and
Geographic Information systems\,\n BioOlympia also operates a fully equ
 ipped BSL-2 research environment.\n\n Speakers:David J. Castillo-Cornejo
