DESCRIPTION: 'Title: Mission: Compromised - Hacking a Satellite from the
Ground Up\n Tags: Aerospace Village | Creator Event/Activity\n When: S
 unday\, Aug 9\, 10:00 - 13:59 PDT\n Where: LVCCW Level 1 Hall 2 700 (Aer
ospace Village) - [1]Map\n\n Description:\n\n Ever wondered what it ta
kes to hack a satellite? At this hands-on\n station\, you'll step into t
he role of an attacker targeting a\n CubeSat-class spacecraft and its gr
ound control station — all\n running in a safe\, fully isolated enviro
nment.\n\n Working against a live mission control system (OpenC3 COSMOS
 / Yamcs)\n and a spacecraft simulator\, you'll follow an attacker's kill
chain\n across multiple layers — from reconnaissance and ground stati
on\n compromise all the way to the spacecraft itself. Where does it end?
\n Let's just say the mission doesn't survive. Come find out how. Every\
n step is paired with the real-world defense that would have stopped it\
n - so you'll leave understanding both how these attacks work and how\n
space systems defend against them. Whether you're new to space\n secur
ity or already deep in the field\, come try it out\, break a\n satellite
(safely!)\, and see the attack surface of modern spacecraft\n up close.
\n\n It will take approximately 15-30 minutes to work through this hands
-on\n demo and guided exercises. You can watch attacks demonstrated by o
ur\n team\, then try guided scenarios yourself using real CCSDS space\n
protocols\, RF concepts\, and industry mission control tooling. A live\n
mission dashboard will reveal the spacecraft's fate as the scenario\n
plays out.\n\n No prior space experience required - all skill levels we
lcome. We\n recommend you bring your own laptop the hands-on portions. A
laptop\n with GNU Radio will let you dig into the RF challenge\, and a
Kali\n Linux setup or your equivalent pentesting toolkit are recommended
  for\n the more advanced challenge.\n\n '\n\n 1. #LVCCW_Level1_Hall2
