DESCRIPTION: 'Title: High Voltage Heist: Turning Your EV into my Power Ba
nk\n Tags: DEF CON Official Talk | Demo 💻 | Tool 🛠\n When: Satur
 day\, Aug 8\, 17:00 - 17:59 PDT\n Where: LVCCW Level 1 Hall 3 1006 (Main
  Track 1) and DCTV-1 - [1]Map\n\n Description:\n\n Ever found yourself
with a dead phone battery in a Walmart parking\n lot? What if we told y
ou that you could walk up to a parked EV and\n charge your phone directl
y from its traction battery - no\n authorization\, no keys\, and no offi
cial V2L features required.\n\n As the EV market expands\, the complexit
y of its charging\n infrastructure scales with it. The push for Vehicle-
to-Grid (V2G)\n communication capabilities introduces a significant atta
ck surface\n with destructive potential for high-voltage systems. In thi
s talk\, we\n explore the security risks within current V2G communicatio
 n. We break\n down exactly how this data is processed internally\, map o
ut the\n high-voltage charging architecture\, and expose logic weaknesse
s hiding\n within the vehicle's Battery Management System (BMS) ECUs.\n\
n Based on this research\, we introduce ChargeSploit\, a custom hardware
\n and software toolkit designed for cybersecurity testing of the EV\n
charging ecosystem. Capable of simulating both vehicles and chargers\,\n
or acting as a physical Man-in-the-Middle\, ChargeSploit allows\n rese
archers to intercept\, manipulate\, and inject payloads into live\n comm
unication flows. We conclude with a live demonstration exploiting\n V2G
protocols and the BMS to force an unauthorized discharge\,\n successfull
 y powering an iPhone directly from a locked EV's traction\n battery.\n\n
