 of passage” by getting your license at DEF CON\, presented by\n   the Ha
 m Radio Village.\n\n   While anyone is able to listen in to amateur/ham ra
 dio transmissions\,\n   only those who have an amateur radio license are a
 ble to fully partake\n   in the “oldest hacker hobby”. With your licen
 se\, you’ll be\n   authorized by the FCC to transmit up to 1\,500W on de
 signated\n   frequencies\, build/modify radios & antennas\, and even admin
 ister your\n   own exams! Additionally\, having your ham radio license can
  improve\n   your resume as it is a well-recognized proof of technical and
 \n   regulatory knowledge when it comes to all things radio.\n\n\n   About
  The Exam\n   --------------\n\n   In the US there are 3 current levels of
  amateur radio license -\n   Technician\, General\, and Amateur Extra. You
  can progress through the\n   levels by taking a series of multiple-choice
  exams showing increasing\n   breadth of knowledge. Most folks at DEF CON 
 looking to become a ham\n   take just the technician exam.\n\n   The techn
 ician exam is a 35 question\, multiple choice exam. Questions\n   come fro
 m from a public question pool of 400 questions. Because of\n   that\, the 
 most popular way folks at DEF CON prepare is by reading\n   through all 40
 0 questions before the exam\, and learning hands on once\n   you get licen
 sed. Many study resources exist - most people recommend\n   ham.study.\n\n
 \n   Signing Up\n   ----------\n\n   Who may register for this testing ses
 sion:\n\n     * Anyone with an interest in obtaining a new Amateur Radio l
 icense\n       or upgrading their existing licenses.\n\n     * You may tak
 e multiple elements in a single appointment\; we just\n       ask that you
  have studied and are ready to pass.\n\n\n   Fees\n   ----\n\n     * All l
 icense examinations administered by the Laurel VEC are free\n       to all
 \n\n     * After passing\, Laurel VEC will submit your application to the 
 FCC.\n       On acceptance you will receive an email from the FCC directly
  with\n       instructions to pay the $35 application fee.\n\n\n   Questio
