 st nobody outside aviation noticed.\n\n   We did. And it turns out you can
  slide into a commercial aircraft’s\n   DMs.\n\n   In this talk\, we sho
 w how modern aircraft receive digital instructions\n   (like “climb\,”
  “descend\,” or “turn”) over a system called\n   CPDLC—and how t
 hat system has basically zero real security. No\n   crypto. No authenticat
 ion. Just vibes and protocol complexity.\n\n   We built a full fake ground
  station using cheap SDR gear and made\n   certified avionics believe we w
 ere air traffic control. From there\, we\n   can inject real flight instru
 ctions or knock aircraft offline at scale\n   with protocol-level DoS atta
 cks—no jamming required.\n\n   This isn’t a simulation. We tested it a
 gainst real aviation hardware\n   in a live CPDLC environment.\n\n   If yo

 is a Senior Scientist at the Swiss Cyber Defence Campus\,\n   primarily ba
 sed at ETH Zurich\, and a Visiting Fellow of Kellogg\n   College\, Oxford.
  His work focuses on designing and analyzing security\n   protocols for cy
 ber-physical systems in critical\n   infrastructures—aviation\, satellit
 es\, space\, and transportation\n   systems. Martin also explore privacy i
 ssues in global networks\,\n   adversarial machine learning\, and open-sou
 rce intelligence.\n\n   Martin received his DPhil in 2016 at Oxford\, supe
 rvised by Prof. Ivan\n   Martinovic\, where he studied the security and pr
 ivacy of aviation\n   communication technologies. I co-founded the OpenSky
  Network and\n   coordinate its research activities. His work has received
  awards from\n   both the aviation and security communities\, including th
 e EPSRC\n   Doctoral Prize Fellowship and commendation from the British Co
 mputer\n   Society. Martin has published regularly at all major security a
 nd AI\n   conferences and also been a speaker at DEF CON several times (ma

   Mehdi Ziazi is a hacker and cybersecurity student at ETH Zurich and an\n
