 y available to the general\n   public\, average technology users have fall
 en prey to threats from\n   malicious spam\, malware\, phishing\, smishing
 \, scams\, fraud\, and\n   ransomware. In most of the US\, primary and sec
 ondary education (in the\n   US\, comprising kindergarten through 12th gra
 de) now incorporate\n   computing technology as an integral part of the cl
 assroom\, and some\n   families introduce computing platforms to children 
 in their toddler\n   and preschool years. Despite our society's growing de
 pendence on\n   computing technology in the world of education\, there rem
 ain no\n   national standards or curricula for the teaching of data privac
 y or\n   information security principles. This disconnect sets future\n   
 generations up for failure\, and a continuation of a cycle of ignorance\n 
   that perpetuates cybercrime victimization. This presentation makes the\n
    case that schools must adopt and incorporate concepts of data privacy\,
 \n   information security\, defense against fraud and phishing\, and inter
 net\n   safety\, in age-appropriate ways\, into lesson plans at all grade\
 n   levels. Further\, school districts and independent schools must take\n
    steps to protect themselves from the threat of ransomware\, data\n   br
 eaches\, and other forms of criminal activity.\n\n   SpeakerBio:  Avi McGr
 ady\n\n   Avi McGrady is a recently graduated student of New Vista High Sc
 hool\n   in Boulder\, Colorado. He prepared the research and work for this
 \n   presentation as a part of a culminating project in his senior year\,\
 n   and presented a report to the Boulder Valley School District board as\
 n   part of this work toward his graduation requirements. Avi is an\n   en
 thusiastic student of computer science and information security and\n   ho
 pes to work in the field after he graduates. He will attend\n   Rensselaer
  Polytechnic Institute as an undergraduate freshman in the\n   fall of 202
 4. His passion has led him to attend and volunteer for two\n   infosec con
 ferences\, RMISC and Bsides in Boulder\, and he will be\n   leaning furthe
 r into his outreach as he begins college and starting\n   his career.\n\n
