DESCRIPTION: 'Title: Sshamble: Unexpected Exposures in the Secure Shell\n
    When: Friday\, Aug 9\, 13:00 - 13:45 PDT\n Where: LVCC West/Floor 1/H
 all 1/Track 2 - [1]Map\n\n Description:\n\n The Secure Shell (SSH) has
evolved from a remote shell service to a\n standardized secure transpor
t that is second only to Transport Layer\n Security (TLS) in terms of ex
posure and popularity. SSH is no longer\n just for POSIX operating syste
ms\; SSH services can be found in\n everything from network devices\, to
source code forges\, to\n Windows-based file transfer tools. While Open
SSH is still the most\n prominent implementation\, it's now just one of
dozens\, and these\n include a handful of libraries that drive a wide ra
nge of\n applications. This presentation digs deep into SSH\, the lesser
-known\n implementations\, many of the surprising security issues found
along\n the way\, and how to exploit them. As part of this talk\, we wil
l\n release an open source tool\, dubbed "sshamble"\, that assists with\
n research and security testing of SSH services.\n\n Speakers:HD Moore
 \,Rob King\n\n SpeakerBio: HD Moore\, CEO and Co-Founder at runZero\n\n
HD has focused on vulnerability research\, network discovery\, and\n
software development since the 1990s. He is most recognized for\n creati
ng Metasploit and is a passionate advocate for open-source\n software an
d vulnerability disclosure. HD serves as the CEO and\n co-founder of run
Zero\, a provider of cutting-edge cyber asset attack\n surface managemen
t (CAASM) software and cloud services. Prior to\n founding runZero\, he
held leadership positions at Atredis Partners\,\n Rapid7\, and BreakingP
oint. HD's professional journey began with\n exploring telephone network
s\, developing exploits for the Department\n of Defense\, and breaking i
nto financial institutions. When he's not\n working\, he enjoys hacking
on weird Go projects\, building janky\n electronics\, running in circles
 \, and playing single-player RPGs.\n\n SpeakerBio: Rob King\, Director
of Security Research at runZero\n\n Rob King is the Director of Security
Research at runZero. Over his\n career Rob has served as a senior resea
rcher with KoreLogic\, the\n architect for TippingPoint DVLabs\, and hel
ped get several startups off\n the ground. Rob helped design SC Magazine
's Data Leakage Prevention\n Product of the Year for 2010\, and was awar
ded the 3Com Innovator of\n the Year Award in 2009. He has been invited
to speak at BlackHat\,\n Shmoocon\, SANS Network Security\, and USENIX.\
