DESCRIPTION: 'Title: Custom\, cheap\, easy\, and safe badges - without st
 arting from\n scratch\n When: Friday\, Aug 9\, 11:30 - 12:30 PDT\n W
 here: LVCC West/Floor 1/Hall 2/Creator Stage 1 - [1]Map\n\n Description:
\n\n Electronic conference badges are cool and everything\, but they're
A\n LOT of time\, money\, and effort including but not limited to hardwa
 re\,\n software and art design\, testing\, manufacturing\, testing\,\n
  provisioning\, and repairing.\n\n I'll share OpenTaxus\, a relatively s
 imple\, cheap\, mass-producible\, and\n open-source badge design. We'll
start out by looking at and\n understanding the design and implementatio
n\, highlighting the areas\n worth customizing (and which to leave as-s)
. I'll do a walkthrough of\n a few changes to customize the design - in
KiCAD for hardware changes\,\n and in CircuitPython for software changes
.\n\n We'll wrap up with some discussion of how to handle cost reduction
to\n fit in a certain budget\, manage badge logistics for events of\n
different sizes\, and warn about some of the many pitfalls that\n elect
ronic badges suffer. You should walk away with the ability to\n customiz
e a badge to be mass produced for your own event.\n\n SpeakerBio: Joe "

el\n silicon debug\, security validation\, and penetration testing of CP
US\,\n SOCs\, and microcontrollers. He founded SecuringHardware.com and
has\n spent decades developing and leading hardware security-related\n
  training\, instructing hundreds of security researchers\, pen-testers\,\n
hardware validators worldwide. When not teaching classes on applied\n
physical attacks\, Joe is busy developing new course content or working\n
on contributions to the NSA Playset and other misdirected hardware\n
projects\, which he regularly presents at all sorts of fun conferences.\n\
