DESCRIPTION: 'Title: Embedded CTF\n When: Friday\, Aug 9\, 10:00 - 17:5
 9 PDT\n Where: LVCC West/Floor 1/Hall 3/HW3-05-05 - [1]Map\n\n Descrip
tion:\n\n Embedded systems are everywhere in our daily lives\, from the
smart\n devices in our homes to the systems that control critical\n in
frastructure. These systems exist at the intersection of hardware\n and
software\, built to accomplish a specific task. However\, unlike\n gener
 al-purpose computers\, embedded systems are typically designed for\n a p
articular case of use and have limited resources. This makes them\n both
challenging and fascinating to work with\, especially from a\n security
perspective. Often these disciplines are dealt with\n individually\, bu
t understanding the custom relationships between\n hardware and software
is vital to performing security research on\n these devices.\n\n The
embedded device CTF contest is an exciting opportunity to explore\n the
intricacies of these systems and test your skills in a competitive\n env
ironment. Contestants are challenged to find vulnerabilities in the\n fi
rmware or hardware and exploit them to gain access or control over\n the
device. The contest offers a unique opportunity to explore\n embedded d
evices' inner workings and understand their design's\n security implicat
ions.\n\n New devices will be dramatically introduced at set intervals\n
throughout the competition\, and point values will decrease over time.\
n This keeps contestants guessing and on their toes\, forcing them to\n
adapt and use their skills to tackle new challenges. It also offers a\n
chance to learn about different types of devices and how they\n functi
on\, broadening participants' knowledge and experience.\n\n By participa
ting in the contest\, contestants can develop a deep\n understanding of
how these systems operate and how to secure them\n against potential att
acks. Additionally\, the contest encourages\n participants to think outs
ide the box and approach problems\n creatively\, honing their problem-so
lving skills. The competition\n provides a valuable opportunity to netwo
rk with like-minded\n individuals and a chance to learn from others in t
he field hands-on.\n\n Overall\, the embedded device CTF contest is an e
xciting and\n educational experience that showcases the unique challenge
s and\n rewards of working with embedded devices. With the rise of the\n
Internet of Things and the increasing integration of technology in our\
n daily lives\, embedded devices are becoming more ubiquitous\, making\n
this contest relevant and worth checking out. Whether you're a\n seas
oned security professional or just starting in the field\, the\n contest
offers a chance to learn\, test your skills\, and have fun in a\n dynam
ic and competitive environment.\n\n This is the main event at Embedded S
ystems Village. Come and show off\n your skills at hacking our collectio
n of vulnerable embedded devices\n and find flags to score points! New t
his year we have a 101 track\n where each team will have their own set o
f emulated devices\, as well\n as embedded challenges from the MITRE eCT
F and some boss-level\n embedded challenges from Toyota Tsusho Systems U
 S!\n\n '\n\n 1. #LVCCW_Level1_Hall3\n\n\n
