rsecurity Speaker\n\n Marcus Hutchins is best known for stopping one of
the largest\n cyberattacks in history\, the 2017 WannaCry ransomware att
ack. At the\n age of 13\, Marcus was given his first computer\, enabling
him to begin\n teaching himself programming. Throughout his teen years
he alternated\n between different programming languages\, learning VB\,
PHP\, C\, C++\, and\n Assembly. Due to almost exclusively hanging around
hacking\n communities\, he eventually found himself making money writin
g and\n selling illegal hacking tools. In 2013 Marcus started MalwareTec
h\, an\n anonymous blog focused on detailing the deep and technical inne
r\n workings of malware. The blog became popular among both security\n
professionals and criminal hackers alike. As time went on\, he became\n
increasingly uncomfortable with working for cybercriminals and focused\n
on leaving that life behind. Through his blog\, Marcus had received\n
several high paying job offers from international security companies\,\n
and gained some understanding of the cybersecurity industry. In 2016\,\n
he made the decision to transition into cybersecurity\, taking a job as\
n a research and development lead at a Los Angeles based firm. On May\n
2017\, Marcus gained worldwide media attention after being outed as the\
n person who stopped WannaCry\, an extremely destructive ransomware\n
virus. Reporters were able to track his MalwareTech alias back to his\n
real identity\, thrusting him into the spotlight. Three months later\,\n
he was arrested by the FBI while attending DEF CON\, the world’s\n la
 rgest hacking convention.\n\n '\n\n 1. #LVCCW_Level3_North\n\n\n
