 1]Map\n\n Description:\n\n Given access to the start time\, duration\,
method of encoding\, and an\n all-powerful quantum receiver\, could you
perform the "simple" task of\n detecting whether two or more parties we
re attempting to communicate?\n Covert communication\, or low probabilit
y of detection\, demonstrates\n that it is possible to hide signals with
in noise so effectively that\n even an all-powerful quantum adversary wo
uld have a vanishing\n probability of detecting the signal’s presence.
In this talk\, I'll\n provide a high-level overview of covert communica
tion and its\n extension to the quantum regime. I'll discuss the theoret
ical\n underpinnings of covert quantum communication\, and how we can\n
practically implement such a system. Finally\, I'll discuss the ethical\
n considerations of this work and why we should care about it.\n\n Spe
akerBio: Evan Anderson\n\n Driven by a deep curiosity about the nature
of information\, Evan\n Anderson transitioned from software engineering
to pursue a PhD in\n quantum information theory and photonic quantum inf
ormation\n processing. He is curious about all aspects of information\,
from its\n fundamental structure within physics to how we manipulate it
to suit\n our needs in day-to-day conversations. Evan is currently in hi
s final\n year as a PhD student at the University of Arizona\, the home
of the\n Center for Quantum Networks\, where his research primarily focu
ses on\n covert communication over quantum channels and quantum coding t
 heory.\n\n '\n\n 1. #LVCCW_Level1_Hall3\n\n\n
