n Description:\n Ghost in the Neurons will reveal for the first time h
ow an interactive\n remote shell can be operated via machine learning de
ep neural networks\n that are accessible through inference APIs. Somewha
t akin to\n webshells\, ML reverse shells can be implanted into pre-trai
ned models\n by an adversary and used to perform initial compromise or m
aintain\n persistence within an environment while conducting command and
control\n communications surreptitiously over legitimate channels. Alon
gside\n traditional features you’d expect to see in a backdoor\, such
as an\n interactive remote shell\, upload/download/execute commands etc.
\, ML\n “webshells” can also provide bespoke functionality allowing
an\n attacker to steal input features\, perform fault injection and tamp
 er\n with a model’s predictions.\n\n In this talk\, we will explain
how machine learning models can be\n abused to operate a covert remote s
hell and backdoor. We will\n demonstrate how to capture commands from th
e model’s vectorized\n feature input\, how to encode responses to the
attacker via the\n model’s output predictions\, and how ML shells can
be deployed\,\n either through direct code insertion or data deserializa
tion flaws\n that can be leveraged when loading models. We will also sho
w how most\n stages of the attack evade detection from traditional secur
 ity\n solutions.\n\n '\n\n 1. #CaesarsAcademyBR\n\n\n
