DESCRIPTION: 'Title: Starbase: open source graph security analysis\n (P
 re-Registration Required)\n When: Saturday\, Aug 12\, 14:00 - 17:59 PDT\
 n Where: Flamingo - Exec Conf Ctr - Foyer - Workshop Checkin - [1]Map\n
   Speakers:Adam Pierson\,Austin Kelleher\,Guillaume Ross\n\n SpeakerBio:
Adam Pierson\n Adam Pierson is a Senior Software Engineer at JupiterOne.
His diverse\n experience includes time as an embedded software engineer
\, an R&D\n analyst working on adopting emerging technologies within lar
ge\n corporate IT environments\, and as a developer demonstrating the va
lue\n of using graph databases to solve complex problems. Currently he i
s on\n JupiterOne’s Integration team working on development tools and\
n continuing work on the open-source Starbase project.\n\n SpeakerBio:
Austin Kelleher\n Austin Kelleher is a Principal Software Engineer as we
ll as a founding\n member at JupiterOne. He leads the team responsible f
or maintaining\n 100+ open-source projects at JupiterOne. His background
has primarily\n been focused on developing cloud-based software systems
and tools that\n interact with graphs for security analysis. Prior to m
oving to the\n security industry\, Austin was an engineer at eBay buildi
ng Marko and\n Lasso\, which are the open-source web tools that power th
 e eBay.com web\n experience.\n\n SpeakerBio:Guillaume Ross \, JupiterO
ne\n Guillaume has worked on the blue-team side of security for close to
\n two decades now\, and loves to do things because they MATTER and not\
n just because everyone else in security is doing the same. He leads the
\n security and IT teams at JupiterOne.\n\n Description:\n Security
teams are overwhelmed with data. How does a user account\n relate to a s
erver\, an application? Does this vulnerability put this\n important dat
a at risk\, or does it simply expose a few systems we care\n about much
less? Who really has access to these files? This is\n vulnerable\, but t
he firewall won’t let traffic to the service\, or\n will it?\n\n The
se types of questions are very difficult to answer in a vacuum as\n they
require context. With the power of graphs\, and Starbase\, an open\n so
urce graph security analysis tool\, we will be able to import the\n data
that allows us to answer them using the graph.\n\n John Lambert said
Defenders think in lists\, attackers think in\n graphs”. Join us\, so
we can get a lot more people thinking in\n graphs!\n\n Skill Level: I
ntermediate\n\n Prerequisites for students:\n\n Ability to use Docker
when provided with commands. Basic understanding\n of IT and security is
sues in cloud environments.\n\n Materials or Equipment students will nee
d to bring to participate: A\n laptop with Docker as well as a few docke
r images pulled in advance.\n\n Due to the brittle nature of conference
Wi-Fi\, we’ll send\n instructions in advance\, so as many people as po
 ssible will have\n downloaded it.\n\n '\n\n 1. #FlamingoLowerLevel\n
