  2018 to 2021\, he led the IoT Security Policy Division across the\n   UK 
 government\, responding to the Mirai attack\, and delivering the\n   Produ
 ct Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure Bill. He is an\n   exper
 ienced public servant\, well versed in delivering through\n   government. 
 He has advised Ministers and Prime Ministers on the\n   creation and runni
 ng of Delivery Units in Government.\n\n   Whilst not technical by backgrou
 nd\, he brings a rebellious streak. As\n   a student\, Peter hitch hiked f
 rom Buenos Aires to New York City and he\n   also spent two years teaching
  in an inner city school in south London.\n   Experiences like this have l
 eft him with a staunch optimism about\n   people\, and he is a passionate 
 advocate for the partnerships between\n   policy makers and hackers to mak
 e better informed policies that can\n   support policymakers\, and citizen
 s\, around the world. He is currently\n   a Policy Advisor at the OECD\, s
 upporting member states to navigate the\n   range of challenges across dig
 ital security.\n\n\n   SpeakerBio:Thomas Kranz\n   Thomas Kranz is an awar
 d-winning cybersecurity consultant\, a senior\n   security & technology le
 ader\, and an author\, with more than 30 years\n   of experience in IT and
  cybersecurity. Starting his hacking career in\n   the 80s in the UK\, Tho
 mas has also spent the decades since then\n   involved in lobbying UK and 
 EU policy makers\, and contributed to\n   various government consultations
  around hacking and cybersecurity. He\n   has written two books\; his awar
 d-winning “Making Sense of\n   Cybersecurity”\, and “How is AI trans
 forming Cybersecurity?” for\n   NVIDIA.\n\n   Description:\n   For decad
 es\, the US has led the way when it comes to involving hackers\n   with po
 licy making. From l0pht appearing before the US Congress in\n   1998\, to 
 the first Policy@DEFCON sessions\, DEF CON has shown how\n   hackers and f
 eds can work together to improve the legal landscape for\n   all of us. As
  Europe tackles big technology issues like privacy\,\n   reigning in Big T
 ech\, and encouraging startups and innovation\, there\n   is a danger that
