 n DC\n   Adam Dobell is the First Secretary (Home Affairs) at the Embassy 
 of\n   Australia in Washington DC. He is responsible for policy engagement
 \n   across the United States Government and with industry on a range of\n
    issues\, including cybersecurity\, critical infrastructure protection\,
 \n   and the security of critical and emerging technologies. Adam’s most
 \n   recent role before commencing at the Embassy was as the Acting\n   Di
 rector for the Countering Violent Extremism Policy Coordination\n   Sectio
 n within the Department of Home Affairs from 2019-20. From\n   2015-2019\,
  Adam undertook several roles in the International Policy\n   Division of 
 the Department of Home Affairs\, including Executive\n   Officer to the Fi
 rst Assistant Secretary and Acting Director of the\n   Papua New Guinea Se
 ction. He enjoys playing and watching football\n   (soocer)\, reading hist
 ory and political studies.\n\n   SpeakerBio:Ari Schwartz \, Executive Coor
 dinator at Center for\n   Cybersecurity Policy and Law\n   A leading voice
  in cybersecurity policy with over two decades of\n   government and nonpr
 ofit experience\, Ari serves as the Coordinator for\n   the Center for Cyb
 ersecurity Policy and Law.\n\n   Ari also serves as Venable LLP’s Managi
 ng Director of Cybersecurity\n   Services and Policy. Mr. Schwartz assists
  organizations in developing\n   risk management strategies\, including im
 plementing the National\n   Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) C
 ybersecurity Framework\,\n   to help minimize risk.\n\n   Prior to joining
  Venable\, Mr. Schwartz was a member of the White House\n   National Secur
 ity Council\, where he served as Special Assistant to the\n   President an
 d Senior Director for Cybersecurity.\n\n\n   SpeakerBio:Bryony Crown \, Fi
 rst Secretary Cyber Policy at British\n   Embassy\, Washington D.C.\n   Br
 yony Crown is First Secretary for Cyber Policy in the British\n   Embassy 
 Washington DC. She covers a broad range of issues relating to\n   cyber an
 d works with an extensive number of international government\n   and indus
 try partners. Bryony has 15 years’ experience in a variety\n   of policy
  roles within government and specialises in national security\n   issues.\
 n\n   SpeakerBio:Peter Brown \, Senior Policy Adviser at Strategy and\n   
 Innovation Unit of the European Parliament\n   Peter F Brown is Senior Pol
 icy Adviser at the Strategy and Innovation\n   Unit of the European Parlia
 ment.\n\n   He recently returned to Brussels after serving as Senior Advis
 er on\n   Technology Policy in the European Parliament’s office in Washi
 ngton\n   DC.\n\n   Peter’s professional career has been predominantly i
 n the European\n   public service and since 1990 as a career official in t
 he European\n   Parliament.\n\n   He resumed his career as a civil servant
  in 2018 after a decade in the\n   private sector\, where he advised sever
 al Fortune 50 companies and many\n   national governments and internationa
 l organisations on technology\n   strategy and governance\, in cloud\, cyb
 er\, IoT\, AI\, and data.\n\n   He has been engaged in global standardizat
 ion policy and IT standards\n   development for more than 25 years.\n\n\n 
   SpeakerBio:Peter Stephens \, OECD\n   Peter Stephens is an experienced p
 olicy lead\, in the UK and abroad.\n   From 2018 to 2021\, he led the IoT 
 Security Policy Division across the\n   UK government\, responding to the 
 Mirai attack\, and delivering the\n   Product Security and Telecommunicati
 ons Infrastructure Bill. He is an\n   experienced public servant\, well ve
 rsed in delivering through\n   government. He has advised Ministers and Pr
 ime Ministers on the\n   creation and running of Delivery Units in Governm
 ent.\n\n   Whilst not technical by background\, he brings a rebellious str
 eak. As\n   a student\, Peter hitch hiked from Buenos Aires to New York Ci
 ty and he\n   also spent two years teaching in an inner city school in sou
 th London.\n   Experiences like this have left him with a staunch optimism
  about\n   people\, and he is a passionate advocate for the partnerships b
 etween\n   policy makers and hackers to make better informed policies that
  can\n   support policymakers\, and citizens\, around the world. He is cur
 rently\n   a Policy Advisor at the OECD\, supporting member states to navi
 gate the\n   range of challenges across digital security.\n\n\n   Descript
 ion:\n   This session will help highlight the international landscape for 
 cyber\n   policy\, highlighting the need for governments around the world 
 to\n   align on policy development and intervention. It will help establis
 h a\n   baseline of knowledge on what's happening in international cyber\n
    policy for those wanting to get up to speed\, and will help set the\n  
  scene for many of the policy discussions to come throughout DEF CON.\n   
 This session goes hand-in-hand with the US policy 101.\n\n   The session w
 ill start with Peter Stephens of the OECD providing an\n   overview of the
  main themes and topics being explored by policymakers\n   around the worl
 d\, as well as sharing what is likely to move forward\n   through the year
 . Peter has direct experience of driving international\n   policy developm
 ent as he previously worked at the UK's Department for\n   Digital\, Cultu
 re\, Media and Sport\, where he developed the Code of\n   Practice for Sec
 urity of Consumer IoT. Peter then worked with ETSI to\n   see the Code ado
 pted as a standard across the European Union\, and\n   later worked with t
 he Australian\, Indian\, and Singaporean governments\n   as they explored 
 adoption of the Code\, so he has an excellent\n   understanding of the ben
 efits and challenges of international policy\n   harmonization.\n\n   This
  portion of the session will be followed by a panel of\n   representatives
  from the Australian government\, the UK government\, and\n   the Center f
 or Cybersecurity Policy and Law\, which works with\n   government on cyber
  policy issues around the world. These participants\n   will each highligh
 t top international cyber policy priorities and\n   challenges for 2023-24
 \, as well as how they approach policy\n   development in the context of t
 he global digital technology ecosystem.\n\n   This will be followed by aud
 ience Q&A so attendees can better explore\n   the information provided and
  build an understanding of the\n   international cyber policy landscape. T
 his session establishes a\n   baseline for many of the Policy @ DEF CON co
