 ost-exploitation research to\n enhance threat hunting operations.\n\n
 SpeakerBio:Michael "mR_F0r3n51c5" Solomon\n Michael Solomon\, also known
as mR_F0r3n51c5\, is a Threat Hunter with\n over 12 years of experience
in Cyber Operations\, Digital Forensics &\n Incident Response (DFIR)\,
and Threat Hunting. His passion lies in\n helping to shape the next gene
ration of cybersecurity analysts for a\n safer tomorrow.\n\n Descripti
on:\n Are you ready to step into the shoes of a cybersecurity or inciden
t\n response analyst? Whether you're new to investigation or looking to\
n take your analysis skills to the next level\, we've got an exciting\n
opportunity for you! Join mR_F0r3n51c5 and S3curityNerd for a\n four-h
our class that will take you on a journey through the world of\n malware
analysis and investigation.\n\n In today's ever-evolving threat landsca
pe\, malware continues to be a\n weapon of choice for various types of t
hreat actors. Our class\n leverages forensic and malware analysis fundam
entals to teach students\n how to investigate a compromised Windows syst
em. To ensure the most\n up-to-date learning experience\, the class auth
ors have carefully\n selected fresh malware samples trending in 2023.\n\
n By the end of this class\, you'll have the skills to: - Build analysis
\n skills that leverage complex scenarios and improve comprehension -\n
Practically acquire data in a forensically sound manner - Identify\n c
ommon areas of malware persistence - Gather evidence and create a\n time
line to characterize how the system was compromised - Participate\n in a
hand-to-keyboard combat capstone where you'll be given an image\n of a
compromised Windows system and demonstrate your newly acquired\n analysi
s skills.\n\n Don't miss this opportunity to gain hands-on experience an
d take your\n analysis skills to the next level. Join us and discover th
e exciting\n world of forensic analysis and investigation!\n\n Skill L
 evel: Intermediate\n\n Prerequisites for students:\n - Not defined\n\n
Materials or Equipment students will need to bring to participate: -\n
Students will be required to download material (e.g.\, Virtual\n Machi
ne). Students will be given a URL for download access. -\n Regarding the
downloaded virtual machines\, these should be imported\n into your virt
ual machine software and ready before the start of\n class. If any addit
ional technical support is needed\, the instructors\n will make themselv
es available online. - Students must have a laptop\n that meets the foll
owing requirements: - A 64-bit CPU running at 2GHz\n or more. The studen
ts will be running one virtual machine on their\n host laptop. - Have th
e ability to update BIOS settings. Specifically\,\n enable virtualizatio
n technology such as "Intel-VT." - The student\n must be able to access
their system's BIOS if it is password\n protected. This is in case of ch
anges being necessary. - 8 GB\n (Gigabytes) of RAM or higher\n - At le
ast one open and working USB Type-A port - 50 Gigabytes of free\n hard d
rive space\, allowing you the ability to host the VMs we\n distribute -
Students must have Local Administrator Access on their\n system. - Wirel
ess 802.11 Capability\n - A host operating system that is running Window
 s 10+\, Linux\, or macOS\n 10.4 or later. - Virtualization software is r
equired. The supplied VMs\n have been built for out-of-the-box comparabi
lity with VMWare\n Workstation or Player. Students may use other softwar
e if they choose\,\n but they may have to troubleshoot unpredictable iss
ues. Instructors\n cannot guarantee compatibility with all virtualizatio
n software\n suites. At a minimum\, the following VM features will be ne
eded: -\n NATted networking from VM to Internet - Copy and Paste of text
  and\n files between the Host machine and VM\n\n '\n\n 1. #FlamingoL
