nant Governor’s campaign\n for Jimmy Tingle in 2018\, and she managed
a successful Cambridge City\n Council campaign for Sumbul Siddiqui in 20
 17.\n Twitter: [4]@theodoraskeadas\n\n Description:\n Technology com
panies with social media platforms have the potential to\n be a powerful
ally in civil society’s work to build an open\, free\,\n and democrat
ic Internet. They have the ability to provide safe and\n accessible mech
anisms for all people to participate in democracy\,\n especially in clos
ed information spaces. Continued\, active engagement\n with technology c
ompanies is required to properly convey the stories\n and experiences of
democratic activists. Online violence and cyber\n threats against women
in politics and public life (OVAW-P) poses a\n deepening challenge to d
emocracy\, serving as a key tool of\n illiberalism and democratic backsl
iding across the globe. OVAW-P\n encompasses all forms of aggression\, c
oercion\, and intimidation\n seeking to exclude women from politics simp
ly because they are women.\n This online behavior seeks to achieve polit
ical outcomes: targeting\n individual women to harm them or drive them o
ut of public life\, while\n also sending a message that women in general
should not be involved in\n politics. This online violence has a chilli
ng effect on the political\n ambitions and engagement of women and girls
\, decreasing their presence\n and agency in politics and public life. S
topping gender-based attacks\n online is a solvable problem\, and it is
the fastest and clearest\n investment toward building an internet that e
nables everyone to be\n politically engaged. To address this issue\, the
National Democratic\n Institute developed a set of solutions-based inte
rventions for\n technology platforms to end online violence against wome
n in politics\n and public life. The interventions were developed in col
laboration\n with a global network of women survivors. In order to more\
n successfully advocate for the implementation of these interventions\,\
n research and advocacy efforts are needed to demonstrate the power and\
n profitability of providing a safe space for women to politically\n e
 ngage online. \n '\n\n 1. #CaesarsAcademyBR\n 2. https://twitter.co
