  Charles Smith is a cybersecurity researcher at Johns Hopkins\n   Universi

 urity.Â  Charles spent the first fourteen years of his\n   career as an of
 ficer in the U.S. Army\, and the recipient of numerous\n   awards and badg
 es including the Ranger Tab\, Combat Infantry Badge\, and\n   Purple Heart
 .Â  He deployed five times as both an infantry officer and\n   intelligenc
 e officer to Iraq and Afghanistan\, and was selected to\n   serve as an in
 telligence officer for the 2ndÂ Battalion\, 75thÂ Ranger\n   Regiment.Â  H
 is served his last four years in uniform at US Cyber\n   Command\, where h
 e led intelligence support to the defense of the 2020\n   elections.Â  Pri
