DESCRIPTION: 'Title: Push All the Buttons Digital Twinning with Idaho Nat
ional Labs\n in collaboration with DEF CON ICS Village\n When: Saturda
 y\, Aug 12\, 17:00 - 17:59 PDT\n Where: Caesars Forum - Summit - 233 - S
 hared Stage - [1]Map\n\n SpeakerBio:Kolton Heaps\n Kolton Heaps is a D
igital Twin Visualization Scientist at the Idaho\n National Laboratory.
He focuses on creating visualizations and\n software that assist in desi
 gn\, operations and training on projects\n including\, fuel processing\,
  non-proliferation\, modular reactors\, and\n advanced digital twin of n
uclear reactor. Kolton has a bachelor’s in\n software engineering from
Brigham Young University – Idaho and lives\n in Idaho Falls where he
enjoys mountain biking and other outdoor\n activities.\n\n Description
:\n Extended Reality (XR) is an umbrella term that involves virtual\n
reality (VR)\, augmented reality (AR)\, and mixed reality (MR)\n capabil
ities. VR describes an environment in which a user’s physical\n enviro
nment is completely replaced with a virtual one. This allows the\n user
to view any digitally created content but separates the user from\n inte
racting with the physical world. On the other hand\, AR enhances\n the u
ser’s physical environment with virtual overlays but offers\n little i
nteraction with digital content. Lastly\, MR is a blend of the\n physica
l and digital worlds\, unlocking natural and intuitive 3D human\,\n comp
uter\, and environmental interactions. Using these technologies\,\n anal
ysts\, operators\, and stakeholders will be able to interpret radio\n fr
equency data effectively and efficiently. \n\n The Idaho National Labo
ratory is integrating the next-generation XR\n capabilities into the var
ious projects that support Nuclear\,\n Integrated Energy and National an
d Homeland Security missions. They\n use a suite of tools for the visual
ization of capabilities to capture\n and analyze digital twins. Digital
 Engineering delivers\n semi-autonomous design\, autonomous operation\, a
nd real-time anomaly\n detection as well as integrates threads of data\,
visualizations\,\n AI/ML\, and physics models into a cohesive digital t
win.\n\n The primary benefit of incorporating XR with signal analysis is
to\n allow for simple interpretation and representation of complex data
.\n Current techniques or trends rely on certain subject matter experts
to\n collect\, examine\, and report anomalous data manually. By allowing
the\n operator to spatially view the captured data\, the process of\n
identifying and plotting data is anticipated to be greatly simplified.\n
Data and anomalies will become engaging\, allowing the operator to\n e
asily identify unknown signals in real-time or near real-time.  \n\n
