  and led the DC government affairs\n   operation for NVIDIA\, translating

 ber of public sector and NGO\n   positions\, including serving as Legislat

 , Principal researcher at Rapid7\n   Erick Galinkin is a hacker and comput
 er scientist working as principal\n   researcher in Rapid7's Office of the
  CTO. Presently\, Erick leads R&D\n   supporting Rapid7's Managed Detectio
 n and Response service. Widely\n   renowned for his equestrian abilities\,
  Erick is a man of several\n   talents. An alumnus of Johns Hopkins Univer
 sity\, he has also published\n   and given talks on security\, decision th
 eory\, information geometry\,\n   and artificial intelligence at conferenc
 es from AAAI and GameSec to\n   DEF CON's AI and Cloud Villages.\n\n   Spe
 akerBio:Kellee Wicker \, Director of the Science and Technology\n   Innova
 tion Program at Wilson Center\n   Kellee Wicker leads the Science and Tech
 nology Innovation Program\n   (STIP) at the Wilson Center\, a Congressiona
 lly chartered think tank\n   that provides nonpartisan counsel and insight
 s on global affairs to\n   policymakers through deep research\, impartial 
 analysis\, and\n   independent scholarship. The STIP team provides researc
 h and insight\n   to Congress\, global policymakers\, and the general publ
 ic on a number\n   of emerging technologies and scientific advances\, with

  \, Co-Founder and CEO at Humane\n   Intelligence\n   Dr. Rumman Chowdhury
 ’s passion lies at the intersection of\n   artificial intelligence and h
 umanity. She is a pioneer in the field of\n   applied algorithmic ethics\,
  creating cutting-edge socio-technical\n   solutions for ethical\, explain
 able and transparent AI. Dr. Chowdhury\n   currently runs the nonprofit Hu
 mane Intelligence and is a Responsible\n   AI Fellow at the Berkman Klein 
 Center for Internet & Society at\n   Harvard University.\n\n   Previously\
 , Dr. Chowdhury was the Director of META (ML Ethics\,\n   Transparency\, a
 nd Accountability) team at Twitter\, leading a team of\n   applied researc
 hers and engineers to identify and mitigate algorithmic\n   harms on the p
 latform. Prior to Twitter\, she was CEO and founder of\n   Parity\, an ent
 erprise algorithmic audit platform company. She formerly\n   served as Glo
 bal Lead for Responsible AI at Accenture Applied\n   Intelligence. In her 
 work as Accenture’s Responsible AI lead\, she\n   led the design of the 
 Fairness Tool\, a first-in-industry algorithmic\n   tool to identify and m
 itigate bias in AI systems.\n\n   Dr. Chowdhury is dedicated to cultivatin
 g and growing the next wave of\n   technology-forward companies enabling t
 he responsible use of emerging\n   technologies.\n\n\n   SpeakerBio:Tim Ry
 der \, Legislative Assistant at Office of U.S. Senate\n   Majority Leader 
 Charles E. Schumer\n   Tim joined U.S. Senate Majority Leader Charles E. S
 chumer’s office\n   in May 2019 and currently serves as a Legislative As
 sistant. Tim is\n   spearheading the Leader’s work on artificial intelli
 gence\, while\n   overseeing the disaster policy portfolio. He is also a m
 ember of the\n   Schumer Climate Team\, where he helped formulate\, negoti
 ate\, and pass\n   the Inflation Reduction Act\, Infrastructure Investment
  and Jobs Act\,\n   and a number of other bills last Congress.\n\n   Prior
  to his time on the Hill\, Tim worked for The Climate Reality\n   Project 
 – former Vice President Al Gore’s non-profit – on\n   Gore’s famou
 s slideshow featured in An Inconvenient Truth. Tim is\n   active in a numb
 er of young professional organizations and runs a\n   small business in th
 e district – Green Drinks DC – with his\n   longtime friend. Tim is a 
 graduate of Stetson University\, where he\n   studied Environmental Scienc
 e and Philosophy\, and is an alumnus of\n   American University’s Washin
 gton Semester Program. In what little\n   spare time there is these days\,
  Tim loves to garden\, cook\, and make\n   music.\n\n\n   Description:\n  
  AI is a huge focus for multiple governments and they are keen to get\n   
 input from the DEF CON community on what they should be considering\n   fo
 r policy interventions.\n\n   This session will be led by Austin Carson\, 
 exploring how we can\n   combine the expertise of DEF CON attendees with t
 he political will and\n   specialized knowledge networks in the Administra
 tion and around DC to\n   create wise policy for AI. Topics covered will i
 nclude how the two\n   communities can support each other and create a vir
 tuous cycle of\n   information conveyance and policy progress? What should
  the next steps\n   of this work be - how do we move beyond the Biden EO? 
 In this session\n   we'll have top experts in policy and the hacker commun
 ity come\n   together to discuss what that can look like and how to be mut
 ually\n   conscientious of what our experiences and priorities may be.\n\n
