  security policies becomes more\n   urgent\, and more complicated. These c
 hallenges are becoming more\n   international. Just thinking about product
  security for IoT\; consumers\n   are buying more smart products through o
 nline marketplaces\, supply\n   chains are becoming more complex and overl
 y reliant on online\n   marketplaces \, that often exist outside of the re
 mit for existing\n   legislation. Meanwhile\, the vast majority of consume
 rs simply don’t\n   know what to look for to assess security. The proble
 m isn’t just\n   security\, but it is one of market failure.\n\n   In th
 e policy space\, it also feels like there is a market failure at\n   play.
  Security researchers want to feed into policy makers’\n   approaches\, 
 and civil servants (many of whom are generalists) need\n   technical exper
 ts to help them assess lobbying and design\n   proportionate plans.\n\n   
 The OECD exists to promote ‘better policies for better lives’. We\n   
 support civil servants around the world\, and would like to offer\n   oppo
 rtunities for the security research community to feed in at a\n   broader 
 scale. This will be a working session\, with a particular focus\n   on pro
 duct security (including IoT) and the challenges facing the\n   security r
