DESCRIPTION: 'Title: Hacking Ham Radio: Dropping Shells at 1200 Baud\n
 When: Friday\, Aug 12\, 15:00 - 15:59 PDT\n Where: Flamingo - Virginia C
ity II (Ham Radio Village Activities) -\n [1]Map\n\n SpeakerBio:Rick O
sgood\n Rick has been an enthusiastic penetration tester since 2015\, an
d has\n been involved with the security community since 2005. As a Princ
ipal\n Security Consultant at Coalfire\, Rick conducts application and A
PI\n tests\, cloud testing\, network penetration tests\, and wireless te
sts.\n He has also completed multiple security-related research and\n
development projects.\n\n Rick dove into information security in 2005\,
enrolling in a university\n program specifically designed around network
security. He has\n experience as a Linux system engineer\, security ana
lyst\, and\n penetration tester. Rick has volunteered at both Blackhat a
nd Defcon\,\n and co-founded two non-profit hackerspaces: HeatSync Labs
in Arizona\,\n and Eugene Maker Space in Oregon. Rick interests include
radio and\n electronics\, which are sometimes combined with security pro
jects. He\n has also written for the popular security-related blog hacka
 day.com.\n\n Twitter: [2]@rickoooooo\n [3]https://www.richardosgood.co
m\n\n Description:\n Amateur radio can be used to communicate with ope
rators all over the\n world using voice\, Morse code\, or even computers
. When connected to a\n computer\, our rigs can do anything from text me
ssaging and email to\n sharing images and tracking weather balloons. The
re’s something\n magical about connecting to a device or person across
the planet\n without the modern Internet\, but can these connections be
abused? Of\n course\, they can! This presentation will review a memory
corruption\n exploit developed to obtain remote code execution via ham r
adio. The\n presentation will briefly describe packet radio and APRS bef
ore moving\n on to target selection\, fuzzing\, reverse engineering\, sh
ellcode\n development\, and exploitation. Prior understanding of basic e
xploit\n techniques such as simple buffer overflows and SEH overwrites i
 s\n helpful\, but not strictly required.\n '\n\n 1. https://defcon.o
