 \n Twitter: [2]@DoingFedTime\n\n Description:\n The hacking subcultu
re's closest relative is that of the Darknet. Both\n have knowledgeable
people\, many of whom are highly proficient with\n technology and wish t
o remain somewhat anonymous. They are both\n composed of a vast amount o
f introverts and abide by the same first\n rule: “Don’t get caught."
\n\n Over the past decade\, there have been many DEF CON talks that have
\n discussed topics related to Tor and the Darknet. Having an IT\,\n I
nfosec\, and hacking background\, the goal is to present a unique\n pers
pective from a hacker turned Darknet Vendor\, who then learned\n about t
he law and–using metaphorical privilege escalation and social\n engine
ering–got himself out of federal prison after a year and a\n half by a
cting as his own lawyer.\n\n The focus of this talk will surround operat
ional security policies\n that a skilled Darknet Market Vendor (DMV) imp
lements to avoid\n compromising their identity. We will look at tactics
used by Law\n Enforcement and common attacks prevalent on the Darknet\,
ranging from\n linguistic analysis and United States Postal Inspector op
erations all\n the way to correlation attacks and utilizing long-range w
ifi antennas\n to avoid detection as a failsafe.\n\n By focusing less
on the basics of Tor and more on how insiders operate\n within it\, we w
ill uncover what it takes to navigate this\n ever-evolving landscape wit
 h clever OpSec.\n\n '\n\n 1. https://defcon.outel.org/consolidated_pag
