 ion Security Officer for the Maricopa\n   County Recorder’s office. Mari
 copa County is the fourth most\n   populous county and the second largest 
 voting district in the United\n   States. He has worked at Maricopa County
  for 14 years\, focusing on\n   Information Security for the past 8. After
  volunteering to be a poll\n   worker\, he developed a passion for Electio
 n Security. When the\n   Information Security Officer position was created
  at the Recorder’s\n   Office he was able to utilize years of experience
  performing security\n   assessments to rapidly increase the security matu
 rity of the\n   organization. Michael believes it is only through effectiv
 e federal\,\n   state\, and local government partnerships\, as well as ass
 istance from\n   trusted vendors that we can protect our democracy and ful
 fill our duty\n   to the American voter. The greatest threats to elections
  are MDM and\n   the resulting insider threat caused by radicalized citize
 ns. The best\n   protection against these threats is combatting lies with 
 the truth\,\n   developing secure and resilient systems that prevent attac
 ks whenever\n   possible\, allow for detections of compromise and facilita
 te accurate\n   and rapid recovery. Michael has pushed forward these initi
 atives in\n   his own organization as well as across the Elections communi
 ty.\n   Michael is an alumnus of Arizona State University with a B.S. in\n
    Mathematics and a B.A. in Education and is a CISSP\, Certified Election

 f the checks and balances in place: Logic and Accuracy testing\,\n   Post-
 Election statistically significant hand count\, air gapped EMS.\n   We’l
 l also review improvements we've worked towards including\n   physical sec
 urity hardening\, threat intelligence sharing\,\n   incorporating least pr
 ivilege methodologies\, advocating for security\n   improvements from the 
 EAC as well as our EMS vendors\, and being the\n   originators of the EMS 
 Gateway CIS benchmark.\n\n   Lastly\, we’ll inform the audience on how t
 hey can do their part -\n   fight MDM\, demand intellectual integrity from
  themselves and those\n   around them\, normalize requesting citations\, v
 olunteer to work for\n   elections and speak up if something seems wrong!\
